City of Ember

There is a really good movie out right now called The City of Ember, it's based off a a series of books written by Jeanne Duprau, #1 being City of Ember, #2 the People of Sparks, #3 the Prophet of Yonwood, and #4 the Diamond of Darkhold. Thus far my favorite it the People of sparks, but I have not read the last one yet. None the less I think #2 has a great message that is very applicable to our day. So go watch the movie and then pick up a book, it is a great series that we will definitely read to Kellen when he is older.

My sweet Kellen

I just wanted to give everyone an update about how Kellen is doing. So.... We have discover that he is allergic to cow's milk (not lactose intolerant) and Wheat, and is sensitive to artificial food coloring. Kellen can still have some kinds of cheese and some kinds of yogurt, Kellen can drink soy milk, rice milk, or goats milk; so we try to do a mixture of the milks for him. 

The Wheat thing is a lot harder then I thought, but I have steeped up to the challenge and have Learn a whole new was of cooking, which is kind of fun. Thanks to our fantastic Grocery store here, I have been able to find alternative flours like Brown Rice Flour, Tapioca Flour, Potato Flour, & Oat Flour, to just name a few. Kellen has been able to eat Waffles, Pumpkin bread, Tortilla, Biscuits, Rice Pasta, All of which he loved and couldn't tell a difference. In fact Preston told me that I can't make my Pumpkin Bread any other way, because it is so much better with the rice flour. Kellen can have a little bit of wheat (like a bite) but, I notice that if Kellen does get to much wheat that he can't sleep at night. Yesterday Kellen had way to much Wheat at the Ward party with all the Rolls and cookies, and Stuffing, That he was up all night. I finally got him to go to sleep at about 9:45 pm and then he was up from 1:40-5 am (Preston took the 1:40-2:20 shift and I had the rest, little boys just want there mommies). We are really big on baked goods so this was a little hard at first, but we are doing really good with it now, and it is starting to become a way of life.

The artificial food coloring is another story entirely, If Kellen gets the slightest amount food coloring, 10 minutes is all I have. He is bouncing off the wall, falling down, running into things, hitting, ect. I can see a really big difference since we have taken this out of his diet. Preston and I normally look at food labels, but now we really have to look at labels, you would be surprised what has wheat in it or Red die #40. So we have taken our healthy eating style to a whole new level. 

He is still not talking, but we are hopping it will be soon, He is getting really good at signing though. He does Please, Thank you, All done, More, & Cup. I think I might teach him a few more, just to help out with the communication barrier. I have learned so much from this little trial already, including a new skill, and a little more patience.

Meridian News Article on Prop 8

This Article is beautiful and bring new light to the current uproar going on in California with Prop 8. Written by an LDS Police officer that was at the Temple during 1 of there many Protest. May we all take it to heart.

Equal Rights??

I keep hearing the words "Equal right", and "We want Equality", being chanted from the gay community. What about our rights as a religion?? Banning gay marriage is not about stealing someone else's right. They still have them, they have every right to do with there lives as they wish. They still receive the same "benefits" that a Husband and wife do. When Pro 8 passed, the gay community didn't loose anything, they still have all the rights they had before, that fall under the "Domestic Partnership" They just want the title,"Married" California was not the only place that voted on gay marriage this election, Arizona and Florida both voted on it, and Both voted to Ban gay marriage. Yet California is the only place I have read about that are protesting the matter. There have been protest in L.A just out side the Temple, A gathering of 20 thousand in San Diego,  a long with San Francisco, & San Jose. Satin has taken hold of the hearts of many people, gay and strait, and have led them to believe that we the Mormons are to blame. The only thing we stand guilty of is fighting to preserver something that is very sacred. Our county has not been this divided since Lincoln was President. Half the county is mad that Obama is our next president, some are glad, and some are indifferent. The fact is a Nation divided will fall! Let us not be found guilty of hatred, let us not be found guilty of animosity to wards our bothers and sisters that are not of this faith. I know that when the Savior comes the world we be the worst it has ever been, But let us all keep the commandments that we have made in the Temple. Let us keep and make our homes a refuge from the out side world. Lets us find ourselves lost in service to those around us.  And lest us sand united in a common goal. 

Don't forget about California!!

I feel I need to pass on these links. They are from my friends page, but it is so important that I think EVERY ONE should know about it. Prop 8 is not over! The church in California is under attack; this may be just the beginning. Watch this video  We need to stand together, and pray for each other. Many of us don't live in California, we are a safe distant away in places like Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado, and many others. But please don't forget about the Saints in California: our brothers and sisters. I still have a lot of friends that still live there, along with my parents. Remember to pray for the safety of those Saints. The world is getting more wicked by the moment. Here is a new article that nearly brought me to tears also.

Kellen's New Bed

Kellen has been in this bed for quite a while now, I have just been busy with other things, and have not got around to taking pictures of it until now. We found this head board & foot board at DI for $10. I thought that even if it turn out to be to old and not sturdy that $10 was worth a try. It turned out to be solid as a rock, and with a little paint, it looks kind of nice. Kellen loves being in a "big boy bed"

Trick-or-Treat

So these 3 photos are the only ones we could get of Kellen, and all of them are from the back. We went to a ward party, neighborhood party, & trick or treating and I think out of all of that we only got one picture of Kellen's face, and I think that was only because Preston was holding  him back, this Kid never stops moving. Kellen did pretty good at the hole trick-or-treating thing, but I was hopping for a little better. He LOVED knocking on all the doors, he wouldn't stop knocking until the door open, towards the end I think his knuckles were starting to hurt because he started to just hit the door with an open palm. When the door opened, he wanted to go inside, and because I wouldn't let him, he would have a melt down right then and there, and I would end up practically dragging him to the next house, where we would do it all over again. I ended up caring his pale the entire time, for some reason he just didn't want to hold it, But He did do really good at picking a piece of candy out at each house. And once again I think I was more excited about taking him Trick-or-Treating then he was about going. Oh well maybe next year.

House #1

Halloween Party

Our friends through a Halloween party on the 30th. There was a lot of kids for Kellen to play with, and we all had a lot of fun. As you can see Kellen was Superman, and this was our sorry attempt to keep him still long enough for a photo. I don't think we new where Kellen was half the time because he was just running around. Every few minutes or so, we would ask each other "where's Kellen", and then he would come running into the room with a group of kids. Because of all the excitement he was up til' 11:30pm! Poor little guy just could shut off his brain.

Juno & Bleeker

Yes we dressed up too, most of the adults did. I know I may not look much like Juno, But she does wear this exact T-shirt through most of the movie. And for those who don't know any better, NO I am NOT pregnant!! I think the best costume that was there that night was Peter Pan worn by Preston's friend Jeff.
