My new found Joy!

I bought a book awhile back that had some really great patterns. Here are just a couple. The first two found a wonderful home with my friend Stephanie.


These other pairs I am still holding on to, trying to find them a good home. I am learning a lot about sewing, and feel pretty confident with most patterns, But I have learned one thing about myself, I'm getting really crafty, but NOT at all creative. So that is my next goal. I need to think out side the box a little bit more. As you can see from all the shoes photoed above, they are well put together, but they lack that personal flair.

Birthday Photos

Still no Photos!!!

Well I think I might know what the problem is, why my computer won't upload photos. We recently installed an Internet filter call K9. Does anyone else have that one? Well we installed it about a month and a half ago, but it has been that long since I put any photos on here. The program wont let me put photos on the Internet, and I can't seem to figure out how to get around it. So I might have to take my computer to a Mac Dr. to have them show me how to work it. BYU-I sells the Mac's and K9, so I guess I will have Preston take it back up there, they seem to know what they are talking about. So until then no photos, sorry.

But in other news. Kellen started Pre-School this week. It is 2 days a week for 2 hours, with a class size of 6. He is doing really good!! and loves the time with the other kids. All the kids are either on the spectrum (Autistic etc.) or like Kellen have some form of a Sensory Processing Disorder. This class will go for 6 weeks then Kellen will be moved into a main stream class and take his shadow teacher with him. So in other words he will get one teacher just to himself.

Potty time is going really good. I am still not sure if Kellen's ready for full time potty training, but he might be closer then I think. We still have a really BIG communication barrier, so it's not like he can tell me that he needs to pee. He loves to sit on the potty, and will pee every time I put him on, so about 3-5 times a day. I think he might like it because he gets to be naked. Today he refused to get off the potty because I have a diaper in hand, waiting for him. He really did not want to put that diaper back on. so then he signed bath, more or less just to prolong his nakedness. I'm fine with him taking a bath in the middle of the day, so whatever. But he wouldn't get in, instead he runs to his bedroom. So I grab a pull up for one hand and a diaper in the other. "Kellen, do you want this one, or this one?" "dis on". he chose the pull up, and was more then willing to put it on, and continued to run around the house. So, we are close. It will be a great day to have a diaper free boy. If you guys have helpful tips let me know.

Born to Run

Sorry no Birthday Photos, they just won't load. Hopefully the problem will fix it's self. In the mean time, check this out. Preston and I just read this book, and when I say read, I mean more like listen to on CD. Which I was really glad to do, because of all the Spanish in there. Before I tell you about the book, I feel like I need to clarify something, I am not a runner! It's hard, and it hurts. I am a much better runner then I ever have been, but I still have not found the joy in it...yet. This book, Born to Run, is about a bunch of Ultra Marathoners called the Tarahumara Indians. But the book is about so much more then just them. It talks about food & diet, running & ultra marathons, The Tarahumara and there amazing cultural. Born to Run falls under a fairly new category... Creative non-fiction. Extremely captivating book. Preston busted it out in about 3 to 4 days, I think I took about a week. (ultra-runners do 50-100 mile runs, all at once. They run all day and into the night.)

Happy Birthday Kellen #3

Ok so I tried to upload photos, but it just wouldn't work. sorry. Today Kellen turned 3!!! We had a lot of fun, and Kellen really seemed to understand that today was a special day. We opened presents first thing this morning, and played most of the day with Clone Wars stuff. We didn't have a party or any friends over, because I didn't want Kellen to get overwhelmed, but we did do a small play date yesterday. For dinner we had a yummy Gluten Free Pizza (it really was yummy) and Kellen LOVED it. For Kellen's Birth Day cake we did Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Waffles. So so good!! All you do, is mix up a cake mix (any cake mix) and make waffles out of them. Top with ice cream and chocolate syrup. We left out the Chocolate syrup. But I highly recommend you try them. The best part, is we don't have a bunch of left over cake and frosting. I froze the rest of the waffles, so we can just grab one out as needed. Kellen loved having us sing him the birthday song, and this was the first time he blew out his candles. On his second birthday, he still didn't know what do do really, so this one was a lot more fun for all of us.

We also started to introduce Kellen to the big boy potty today. Not quit potty training yet, just starting to create a routine. I am so proud of him, he peed in the potty 3 times today!!! he really likes the excitement I give him when he goes. I am not entirely sure if he is ready for potty training, because i am not sure he understands to only go, in the potty. And he just barely started to come to me, last week, to tell me he was messy (if you know what I mean, when I say messy) So we are going to take it nice and slow, and see how he does.

And in other news... Kellen is starting to talk a little. Just a few basic words, I would have to say though that Sign Language is still his primary language. He will say Momma, if I ask him to, Da (Dad), mo (more), no, OK, pood (food) along with a few others. Sorry it has been forever since I have posted anything, but nothing new is going on really. We are all just hanging out, and enjoying the stage of life we are in. I will try to be a better blogger. I think I might blog more about things that I find interesting.

So I have been pretty board lately and though I might try to expand what little talent I have at the sewing machine. So I thought I might try to make some little girls stuff. I know who crazy is that, I have a little boy, but someday I hope to have a girl. So for all you guys that are pregnant and having girls, Stef, Elena, I'm talking to you. These dresses were my first project. I'm not sure what size they are about 3 months ish I think.

Project 2

I love these dresses so much!! they are about a 2T 3T. The green one with the pink trim is up for grabs, the Pink one is already claimed.

Both dresses weren't that hard, the top one takes about an hour and a half. The strapy took a little longer. I am having a lot of fun. I just pick up another pattern to try out. I will post photos as soon as I'm done.

If your not having a girl let me know, I can make you a really great blanket.

I know I am a nerd, but we all have to own it some time.

I just wanted to share with all of you my most favorite Cartoon ever, The Avatar. It is a 3 season cartoon. Book 1 water, Book 2 earth, Book 3 Fire. It is now being made into a motion picture by my favorite producer/Director M. Night Shyamalan. The first trailer is for the cartoon, and the second is obviously for the movie, that comes out next summer, I know exciting right. Trust me, everyone that we have ever loaned out our seasons to have brought them back addicted. It may just be a cartoon but it is so so good. Transformers was a cartoon, and look at that movie. Enjoy.

Well, sorry I haven't updated in awhile, we've been busy, and every time I do get online I always go to the New Family search web page to do family history stuff. I am in love with that page.

Kellen is home sick today from church so I thought I would take this time to do some Bloggin.

Little Projects: These photos below are Kellen's new play room. The space under the stairs was storage, then we turned it to a food storage closet, and now it's a room for Kellen. He likes tight places, so he loves to go in there and close the door. I'm going to paint it a fun color for him. White walls lack that creative feel, so I will post photos again when it's painted. If you guys have any color ideas for me let me know.

Another Little Project: I have been working on Kellen's dresser for about a year now. It's taking me so long because I only do a little at a time. He also has a matching night stand that I haven't even started on yet. I have been working on them a lot more lately, I am hopping to have them done before the end of summer.

June 13th Preston's Birth Day: Preston turned 29!!! He was pretty excited, but can't wait to turn 30. We had a fun day. Preston's Mom and brother Cameron came out to celebrate with us. We started the day off with a delightful breakfast of French toast with the works, Turkey Bacon, Sausage, and Simply Orange. It was all so so good. Then we did presents. By far most favorite presents where his Toms Shoes, and His wallet. We got rained on pretty bad all day so the only thing we had time for was the farmers market. The rest of the day was spent inside.

Other points of interest: Preston has had Mono for a few weeks now, and I am hoping that he is just about done with it. I am still Mono free, for the time being, and Kellen just has a cold.

We have been doing lots a yard work, and we just finished a BIG part of it last night, I will post photos as soon as I take some. Unfortunately I didn't take before and after photos, sorry.

We've been watching Lost almost every single night, just 1 or 2 episodes at a time. I am loving it. We are on season 4 episode 3. You can watch them all from the beginning on Hulu.

Kellen's school is going really, really good. They finally got him to sit with the class! Sitting is one the hardest things for Kellen to do. The class only sits for about 8-10 minutes, but Kellen just runs around and the teachers chase him (they are trying to grab him to bring him over to the group) But they finally took my advise of sitting him on a ball. And it worked fantastically. So when he gets antsy he can bounce on it.
